Pre-Care Instructions

Discontinue ALL temporary hair removal methods

To properly perform electrolysis we need your hair to grow out. Please discontinue all temporary hair removal methods at least one week before your service. Avoid tweezing, threading & waxing as these methods can stimulate hair growth.

Hydrate!

Hydrated skin responds better to the electrolysis treatment since electrolysis relies on the moisture inside of the follicle. Please drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment.

Please avoid the consumption of caffeine and alcohol as these tend to increase sensitivity.

Skin Care

Light exfoliation is encouraged a day or two before your treatment. Please avoid chemical exfoliations.

Moisturize your skin. Well moisturized skin will respond better to the treatment.

Stop using AHA's - Alpha hydroxy acids & BHA's - Beta-hydroxy acids. Examples include Retinol, glycolic acid, & salicylic acid. These products are active exfoliants that can cause extreme sensitivity and increase the potential for skin irritation and burns. There is a high risk of skin damage when these products are used in combination with Electrolysis.

Post-Care Instructions

What to expect

Immediately after your service it is normal to see any of the following:

  1. You can expect redness and swelling.
  2. There may be a sunburn like sensation to the area or a feeling of soreness/pain.
  3. A few days after your service there could be pinpoint scabbing or breakouts.

The goal of the electrologist is always to cause as little damage to the skin as possible but it is normal for any of the above to occur.

In house after-care

After your treatment your electrologist will apply either a light moisturizer to the area, perform cataphoresis, or perform a high-frequency treatment.

At home after-care

Protecting your skin after treatment is key in the healing process.

Please moisturize the skin. An aloe based moisturizer works great due to its soothing properties without causing clogged pores.

Please use SPF! Protecting the skin from the UV rays is critical to avoid hyperpigmentation.

Avoid exercise/high friction activities.
